About the Choir
MagnificatBoston is a choral ensemble of approximately 25 singers who come primarily from parishes within the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and environs. All choristers are auditioned, and come with a wide variety of both amateur and professional vocal /choral experience. Participation in MagnificatBoston is voluntary.
We are not associated with any one particular parish. The choir rehearses once per month at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Malden, and sings the Office of Evensong once per month in a different parish church or chapel within the Diocese. We particularly look for opportunities to bring the tradition of choral Evensong to parishes with no choirs of their own, or whose choirs do not sing Evensong. We strive to sing the best of the repertoire of the English cathedrals and collegiate chapels, and of American composers, and to promote the composition of new music for the Anglican liturgy. Our calendar shows where we will be singing during the current season.
